Joshua Watson

Joshua Watson is a trial attorney with more than 20 years of experience representing individuals in complex civil litigation against corporations, utilities, employers, and government entities. His practice focuses on catastrophic injury, mass torts, employment law, civil rights, and class actions involving systemic wrongdoing and large-scale institutional liability.

Wildfire Litigation

Joshua has represented hundreds of individuals, families, and businesses in wildfire litigation arising from fires caused by utility companies. He represented clients in the 2018 Camp Fire, the 2021 Dixie Fire, and the 2023 Maui Fire. His wildfire work has included matters involving wrongful death, serious injury, catastrophic property loss, displacement, and insurance-related disputes.

Joshua has litigated employment class actions, mass torts, wage-and-hour disputes, civil rights and police misconduct claims, and catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death matters in both state and federal court. His work consistently involves complex litigation against institutional defendants where individual clients face significant harm and unequal resources.

As lead counsel for his clients, Joshua’s results include:

• $32 million in settlements for victims of wildfires caused by PG&E
• $5.7 million class action settlement for workers denied overtime pay
• $1.2 million judgment after jury trial against the State of California for civil rights violations in the California Division of Juvenile Justice
• $1.1 million settlement for deputy misconduct by San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office

Technology & Litigation

Before entering the legal profession, Joshua was a partner at a web technology firm, where he built custom software. He continues to draw on that background at Danko Meredith, applying technology to improve document review, case organization, and client communication.
